The Alco-Sense Ultimate Series IV BAIID, The device prohibits the operation of a motor vehicle in the case that the driver’s test result is higher than the maximum state-allowed Breath Alcohol Concentration (BrAC) limit. The device forces the driver to pass a BrAC test prior to starting the vehicle and during operation of the vehicle, i.e. rolling retests. Rolling retests can be configured to be issued periodically or randomly as mandated by your state or country. The device uses a highly sensitive, highly accurate, and highly ethanol-selective fuel cell to detect BrAC, independent of other substances present in the breath sample, including cigarette smoke or acetone. The device implements robust anti tampering, hot-wiring and circumvention features, supported by the latest sensor technology, including an optional image sensor, combined with sophisticated algorithms. The device securely logs any event involving the use/tampering/circumvention of the device and implements robust and secure temporary ignition interlock overrides to support vehicle repair and engine maintenance. Built-in power management and an integrated backup power supply guarantee very long operational life. Optional features include a camera, GPS, Wi-Fi and cellular communication modem, which expand the device with advanced and sophisticated capabilities for anti-circumvention, retrieval and remote configuration, alerts and data downloads.
The device consists of a base unit, which interfaces with the vehicle, a handset unit with USB cable with latch, which provides the interface for the driver to start a BrAC test, and a digital display with alerts (test results or other events like pass, fail, invalid attempt, refuse rolling test, bypass, and attempt to remove).
A lockout countdown of 5 days begins as a result of violations. A lockout countdown of 7 days occurs when it is time for calibration/monitoring service, as is mandated by your state.
In case of an emergency, the restart time is 3 minutes if the vehicle ignition is off.
The device also has a set of buttons: a start button to power the device to initiate the test and buttons to enter/exit mechanic mode for vehicle repairs and maintenance.
The device comes with a removable blue mouthpiece to provide the breath sample.
The device has two methods to prevent refusal of rolling random tests: the flashing light and beeping sound. The first random test is between 5 to 15 minutes after the vehicle has started, followed by the consecutive tests between 15 to 45 minutes after the first rolling test. The device is designed to operate accurately and reliably in extreme temperatures of -40 ℃ to +85 ℃ temperature range and also in extreme humidity, altitude, and vibration.
The device measures approximately 2.9" x 5.3" x 1.2" for the handheld unit and 4.7" x 6.2" x 1.3" for the base unit.
